Welcome to the NASSP Principal of the Year Award website. The Principal of the Year program recognizes outstanding middle-level and high-school principals who have succeeded in providing high-quality learning opportunities for students as well as demonstrating exemplary contributions to the profession. Each year, the State Principal of the Year winners are submitted for consideration to be the National Principal of the Year.

Regarding the 2025 Colorado award process: Each year, Colorado (CASSP/CASE) selects and honors one Middle Level Principal of the Year and one High School Principal of the Year. One of these two winners will be recognized as the Colorado Secondary School Principal of the Year and will represent Colorado at the national level.  All nominations for 2025 Middle Level and High School Principal of the Year must be submitted to CASE no later than Monday, February 3, 2025, at 6 pm. Once a nomination has been determined, CASE will contact the Nominee to provide details and deadlines regarding next steps in the application and selection process.

The eligibility requirements and rubric are available to assist you in meeting the criteria that the reviewers will use to score your application. Once registered, you may enter the application page to begin the application process.

Colorado's application deadline is Monday, February 3, 2025, no later than 6 pm.
